Small Midwest College. After soliciting the opinion of almost everyone we know, STK and I have decided to accept the job offer from Small Midwest College. Surprisingly, the vast majority of opinions focused on the positives of the move. In fact, the only thing that gave anyone serious pause was the fact that we'll be moving to a much smaller community. Moving from the Denver metro area to a community of 10,000 will definitely be an adjustment. Our friends and family expressed some sadness at the prospect of seeing us leave the metro area; my mother, in typical fashion, started to cry. Leaving our friends and family behind will no doubt be one of the scariest parts of the move. That said, the actual professor position is perfect for me, the politics of the area is a vast improvement over Colorado, and the community is a much safer place to raise a child.
Tomorrow AM, I'm going to call my new department Chair and let her know I'll be contacting the Dean with my decision.
And so a new chapter begins.

Congratulations, my young Padawan learner. You've earned this chance, and you'll make a big difference in the lives of a lot of impressionable young people. And yes, that's a good thing.
