Micro Movie Reviews

We spent a lot of time at the movies this weekend. Three quick reviews follow.

Travellers and Magicians.
Excellent balance of imagery, humor, and philosophy. A joy to watch. Excellent parallels between the journeys of Dondup and Tashi.
Rating: Five prayer flags (out of five).

Raising Helen.
Cool mom. Cool kids. Cool pastor. Traditional hollywood fare meant to be enjoyed at a matinee or on DVD.
Rating: Three stuffed hippos.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Hippogriffs, dementors, and werewolves! Oh, my! Best of the HP movies to date (my favorite book, too). Excellent effects, clear narrative. Alan Rickman as Professor Snape continues to steal every scene of which he's part. Gary Oldman, playing the part of Sirius Black, gives Rickman a run for his money. Expecto Petronum!
Rating: Four and half choruses of "Something Wicked This Way Comes."
