Appetizer What are your plans for the upcoming weekend?
Not a whole lot. Kathleen is out of town at an art conference and doesn't return until late Saturday night. As such, I'm going to use the time to pull together a couple application packets, continue to edit a journal article, and work on the dissertation. Swimming laps is on tap for later this afternoon, a long run is probably in the cards sometime during the course of the weekend. I'm hoping we'll go see The Story of the Ramones on Sunday afternoon.
Soup Who was the last person you talked to on the telephone?
Kathleen. She called from her conference to chat for a few minutes.
Salad Name a hobby that you've tried but eventually gave up for some reason.
Stamp collecting. Egads, what a boring hobby. Sorry the stamp collectors out there, but I just couldn't get into it.
Main Course What is the most important personality quality in a mate?
Compassion.
Dessert Why is the sky blue (be creative with your answer)?
Because it isn't red.

Actually, "because it isn't red" is a scientifically valid answer. Red light, with its longer wavelengths, isn't scattered by the atmosphere as easily as blue light is. Hence, the sky is generally blue, except at sunrise and sunset, when the light has to travel through a longer cross-section of our atmosphere and red light prevails.
You're welcome.
Yay! Science!
Sorry, brain like a sieve today.
Wow! We have our own Bill Nye the Science Guy in our blogging circle.
